Bonne nouvelle BMG-RCA Brésil relance des anciens disques de Johny Alf pour les 50 ans de la Bossa Nova
A bossa-era classic from Johnny Alf -- sung in that wonderfully raspy vocal style that really set him apart from some of his contemporaries! There's a strong undercurrent of feeling here, even though the music itself still has the gentle grooves of the bossa style -- almost a samba-informed approach to singing that makes Alf's self-penned lyrics come across with an even stronger sense of feeling. Arrangements are by Nelsinho, and Alf also plays a bit of piano on the set -- and the whole thing often has a spacious, almost echoey quality that pushes the sound of the music even more. Titles include "Escuta", "Feiticaria", "Ilusao A Toa", "Vem", "Tudo Distante De Mim", "Que Vou Dizer Eu", "O Que E Amar", and "Fuga".

A later album from Johnny Alf -- and one recorded with a beautifully mature feel overall! The album's filled with great duets -- tunes that pair Alf with singers like Gal Costa, Chico Buarque, Caetano Veloso, Gilberto Gil, and Leny Andrade -- all of whom sound wonderful alongside Johnny's raspy, aging style. The tunes are a bit more laidback than some of his earliest work, but never in a way that's sleepy -- just pensive at points, which makes for an especially nice setting for some of the guests. Titles include "Ilusao A Toa", "Dois Coracoes", "O Que E Amar", "Eu E A Brisa", "Bar Da Praia", "Tem Mais", "Olhos Negros", and "Rapaz De Bem". CD (Item 476278) RCA/BMG (Brazil), Late 80s
